LUMINARY FM

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 21, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Luminary FM ("we", "us", "our") handles information in the Luminary FM mobile app and at luminaryfm.com (together, the "Service"). We built Luminary FM to be a simple radio player, and we collect as little as possible to make that work.

In short: Luminary FM does not require an account, does not collect your name, email, or location, does not use analytics or advertising trackers, and does not sell or share personal data with third parties. The only information stored is kept on your own device.

Information we do not collect

We do not ask you to create an account or sign in. We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, precise location, contacts, photos, or any government ID. The app does not include analytics SDKs, crash-reporting SDKs, or advertising SDKs of any kind.

Information stored on your device

The app saves a small amount of data locally on your device (using standard on-device storage) so your preferences persist between sessions. This never leaves your device and is not visible to us:

Uninstalling the app deletes this data. Nothing is backed up to a server we operate.

Network requests the app makes

To show live programming and play the stream, the app talks to a small number of servers. None of these requests include your name, email, or any way to identify you personally — only the technical request itself (e.g. "what's playing right now").

PurposeDestination
Live audio stream, now-playing info, schedule, podcastsOur own streaming/station infrastructure (AzuraCast, operated for Luminary FM)
Latest news headlines shown in the appluminaryfm.com (our own server)
Background/cover imagery for shows without custom artPexels API (a stock-photo search — only a search term is sent, never anything about you)

Standard technical data (like IP address and device/network type) is inherently visible to any server you connect to, including ours and the above — this is normal for any app that uses the internet, and we don't combine it with anything to identify you personally.

Notifications

If you set a programme reminder, the app asks Android/iOS for permission to show local notifications and schedules them entirely on your device. We do not use push notifications from a server, and we cannot see whether or when a reminder fires.

Permissions the app requests

The app does not request microphone, camera, contacts, storage, location, or "draw over other apps" permissions.

Children's privacy

Luminary FM is a general-audience radio app and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the revised policy.
